NIL deals are contracts. Read them like contracts.
Name, image and likeness turned college athletes into small businesses overnight, and handed most of them a legal document they have no way to evaluate. That is the gap we fill.
The deal in front of you was written by their lawyer
Brands, collectives and agencies bring templates that have been through legal review. The athlete signs on a phone, between classes, because the number sounded good and the deadline was tomorrow. The terms that cost money later are never the ones in the headline.
Somebody who reads it and has no reason to say yes
We are not paid to close the deal. We are paid to protect the career the deal sits inside. Sometimes the right answer is sign it, sometimes it is change three clauses, and sometimes it is walk away from a number that looks like a lot right now.
What we check
Six clauses that cause
most of the damage
Exclusivity
A modest deal with a broad category lock can block every competitor in that category for the length of the term. Athletes routinely sell an entire industry for a few thousand dollars.
Term and renewal
Auto-renewal on the brand's option is common. So is a term that outlasts your college eligibility and follows you into a professional contract negotiation.
Image rights
How long can they keep running the photos, and where. Perpetual worldwide usage is a standard ask and it is negotiable more often than athletes assume.
Deliverables
Vague obligations ("reasonable promotional support") become disputes. Countable deliverables with dates protect both sides and make the deal enforceable.
Morals and termination
Who can cancel, on what grounds, and do you keep what you have already earned. One-sided termination is the norm in first drafts.
Payment and tax
NIL income is self-employment income. No withholding, quarterly obligations, and a tax bill in April that surprises families every single year.
Does an NIL advisor affect eligibility?
Getting help reviewing an NIL agreement is permitted. The rules that matter govern who may negotiate professional playing contracts on your behalf and how you may be compensated, and they vary by sport, division and state law. We confirm your specific situation in writing before anything is signed, and we will tell you plainly when a deal is not worth the risk.
What this costs
NIL review and advisory work is quoted up front, in writing, before any work starts. If we negotiate a deal on your behalf, we are paid a percentage of what we bring in, which means we are paid when you are paid.
Who this is for
Any college athlete with an offer in hand, any athlete about to have one, and any parent who has been sent a PDF and does not know what they are looking at. Send it to us before you sign. That review is where most of the value in this service lives.
